Common questions
- How does logging a meal work?
- Tap the plus on the Today screen. Hold to talk and describe the meal, take a photo, type it, search for a food or scan a barcode. Elmo splits the meal into foods with calories and macros and shows a likely range. Slide How much or How buttery, or type an exact amount, to fix anything that looks off. Recent and saved meals are one tap away.
- How does Elmo work out my daily burn?
- Your first estimate comes from a standard formula and your activity. As you log food and weigh in, Elmo compares what you ate with how your weight moved and works out what you really burn. At each weekly check-in your plan setting decides what happens: Automatic updates your targets when your logs support it, Ask me first suggests new targets for you to approve, and Manual never changes them.
- Will Elmo ever set a very low calorie target?
- If a target would fall below your safe minimum, Elmo warns you and asks you to confirm before using it, on every plan setting. Check with a doctor before eating that little.
- Which eating styles can I choose?
- Balanced, More protein, More carbs or More fat. The style changes how your calories are split between protein, carbs and fat. Your calorie target stays the same.
- How does fasting tracking work?
- There is no separate timer. Your fast starts from the last meal you log and ends with the next one. Elmo shows how long you have been fasting, your usual eating window and your streak. If you don’t fast, you can ignore it.
- What does Elmo share with Apple Health?
- Only what you allow. With your permission, Elmo reads steps, activity, sleep, weight and food from other apps to estimate your burn and show trends, and writes the meals and workouts you log back to Apple Health.
- How do I restore a purchase?
- Sign in with the same account and Apple ID you subscribed with, then tap Restore purchases on the subscription screen or in Settings.
- How do I cancel my subscription?
- Subscriptions are managed by Apple. On your iPhone, open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, choose Elmo and tap Cancel Subscription. Cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends to avoid the next charge. Deleting the app or your Elmo account does not cancel it.
- Is Elmo medical advice?
- No. Elmo is a food tracking and planning tool. It is not a medical device and does not replace advice from a doctor or dietitian.
Delete your account
- Open Elmo and go to the Settings tab.
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete account.
- Tap Continue, then Delete forever to confirm.
This permanently erases your account, food log, meal photos, plans, saved meals and history from our servers and your phone. It can’t be undone. Data in Apple Health is not touched; manage it in the Health app.
Deleting your account does not cancel your subscription. Cancel it on your iPhone in Settings, your name, Subscriptions.
